Sunday shows: Labor standoff drags on
The labor protests in Wisconsin will share the stage with the recent
uprisings in the Middle East during Sunday morning’s talk show circuit.
Sens.
John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), who are fresh off an
official trip to Tunisia, Jordan and Israel, will likely discuss their
conclusions of the trip on CNN, especially as it relates to the ongoing
uprising in Libya and the recent revolution in Egypt.
{mosads}McCain will also appear on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” likely to discuss many of those same issues.
Meanwhile,
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) will appear on NBC to discuss his
ongoing standoff with Democrats in the state Senate over his proposal to
limit collective bargaining rights for public employees.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who’s also sought aggressive
reforms of public employee unions in his state, will appear on “Face the
Nation” on CBS.
Labor groups and left-leaning bloggers
complained mid-week that no labor voices had been scheduled to appear on
the Sunday show circuit. But “Meet the Press” ultimately included
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka on its roundtable.
The Sunday shows won’t be short on 2012 politics, either.
Indiana
Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), both
of whom are considering running for president next year, will appear on
“Fox News Sunday,” and Christie is sure to face questions, too, despite
his insistence that he won’t run.
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R), another potential candidate, will also be part of the NBC roundtable.
