Consultants picked to review page program

House leaders Friday announced they’ve picked two consultants to review the scandal-plagued House Page Program.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced they selected two consultants, former Congressional Management Foundation executive director Richard Shapiro and educator William A. Weary, who has been a high school principal in Philadelphia and New York.

“In addition to bipartisan legislation signed into law last year, updated rules for the Page Program and the House Inspector General’s report, this independent review will ensure that a program created in 1827 effectively supports the operations of the House and serves the interests of the pages in 2008,” Pelosi and Boehner said in a joint statement.
