The 2011 Gridiron Club dinner
President Barack Obama made his first presidential appearance before the Gridiron Club on Saturday night. The dinner brings together major figures in the media, with politicians and members of the Cabinet for an evening of officially off-the-record humor. The Gridiron Club is the oldest and most prestigious journalistic organization in Washington.

Obama was the 21st U.S. president to attend the dinner. Last year former President Bill Clinton stood in for Obama, and in 2009 Vice President Biden spoke for the administration.
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a potential Republican presidential contender, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius were also speaker’s at Saturday night’s event.
