Pelosi leads Sunday lineup

Lawmakers are dominating the Sunday public affairs shows this weekend, with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) leading the way.

Pelosi will appear on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” She has made the media rounds in the past few weeks as she promotes her new book “Know Your Power.” {mosads}And with Congress wrapping up its summer session, expect her to get questions on the Democrats’ accomplishments, the debate on offshore drilling and a few queries on the presidential race.

NBC’s “Meet the Press” has an interesting booking: dueling Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).

Kerry, the Democrats’ 2004 presidential nominee, will be talking about the party’s current candidate, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, while Lieberman, the Democrats’ 2000 vice presidential nominee, will discuss his support of Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).

Lieberman and Kerry have been outspoken supporters of their respective candidates and often act as campaign surrogates on national security issues. Lieberman has been mentioned as a possible partner for McCain on the Republican ticket. And he has not ruled out a speaking slot at the Republican convention.

McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is booked for “Fox News Sunday” along with former Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle (S.D.), an Obama supporter.

Daschle endorsed Obama in February, when the Democratic primary process was still in high gear. Graham has been a longtime supporter of McCain, including backing him in his failed 2000 presidential bid.

McCain Victory chairman Carly Fiorina, who is often mentioned as a possible vice presidential candidate, is scheduled to be on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” Expect her to be questioned about the possibility of a McCain-Fiorina ticket.

CNN’s “Late Edition” hosts Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), who spent Wednesday campaigning with Obama in her home state. On the Republican side, the show features former Office of Management and Budget director Rob Portman, who is said to be on the short list for the vice presidential slot.
