Will Ferrell calls McCain response to Paris ‘feeble’
Popular comedian Will Ferrell, who famously portrayed President Bush in 2000 on “Saturday Night Live,” called Paris Hilton’s response to Sen. John McCain a “smack-down” of the Republican presidential candidate.
Hilton offered her own energy plan and referred to the Arizona senator as an old and wrinkled man in a video posted on the FunnyOrDie.com website launched by Ferrell and others last year. McCain responded to the parody by highlighting Hilton’s agreement with his “all of the above” energy policy.
{mosads}“I love this video,” a post attributed to Ferrell reads. “And I love that it's clearly a smackdown of McCain, but he tried to release some statement saying Paris agrees with his energy policy. That is incredibly feeble. You mentioned Paris in an ad which was cheap and then she nailed you.”
Ferrell rose to fame with his impersonation of Bush, who stumbled over words such as “strategery.”
Hilton and the FunnyOrDie team recorded the response after the McCain campaign featured the famous hotel heiress in an ad mocking Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama's (D-Ill.) "celebrity" and questioning his readiness to be president.
As of Friday afternoon, the Hilton video had been viewed on FunnyOrDie almost 6 million times.
