Bush heads to Camp David after convention speech

DENVER — President Bush will not be around Minneapolis-St. Paul to hear Democrats criticize him after his speech to the Republican convention.

The White House said Monday that the president will spend the night at Camp David following his address in Minnesota.

{mosads}Democrats are looking to seize on Bush's and Vice President Dick Cheney's speeches to the Republicans next week as they seek to portray Republican presidential candidate John McCain as offering a third Bush term.

The crux of Democratic candidate Barack Obama's campaign thus far has been to try and wrap McCain in Bush's continued unpopularity.

Cheney, whose approval ratings are lower than Bush's, leaves the day after his convention speech for an overseas trip to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Italy.
