Palin stresses ‘change’ theme

GOP vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin emphasized the Republican ticket will bring change and reform to Washington D.C. at a rally Saturday in Washington, Penn.

“It’s always safer in politics to avoid risk and go along with the status quo, but I didn’t get into government to do the safe and easy thing,” Palin said. “No leader in America today has…presented so clear a threat to business as usual in Washington as Sen. John S. McCain.”

{mosads}Though she didn’t mention President Bush by name, Palin said she was committed to spreading the campaign’s message of change – a message that has been at the heart of Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) presidential campaign.

“I’m going to take our campaign into every part of the country and our message of reform to every voter,” Palin said. “And if you want change in Washington (D.C.), if you hope for a better day in America, then we’re asking for your vote.”

Palin, a mother of five, said she entrusted GOP presidential candidate McCain to look after her eldest son who enlisted in the Army last year. As president, she said he would protect America from nuclear threats.

“In a dangerous world, remember it’s John McCain,” Palin said. “He will lead America’s friends and allies in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”
