Boehner downplays Senate experience

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has more administrative experience necessary to be president than Sens. Barack Obama or Joe Biden, said House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Sunday.

In an interview on CNN’s Late Edition, Boehner favorably contrasted Palin’s executive experience as Alaska’s governor to Obama’s four and Biden’s 36 years in the Senate.

{mosads}“When you look at the job of president and vice president, it is an administrative job – she actually has to make decisions,” Boehner said.

“When you’re a senator, you get to decide, yes or no. You get to go out and make statements. But when you’re the governor you actually have to make decisions that have consequences,” Boehner said.

Boehner failed to mention that the GOP candidate for president, John McCain, has represented Arizona in the senate for four terms.

Boehner made the comments in response to what he said were “appalling” statements from liberal Democrats about a “very accomplished woman.” He said they made those comments at their own peril.
