Bush could still appear in Twin Cities
ST. PAUL — The White House said Monday that President Bush might appear at the Republican National Convention later in the week after initially canceling to monitor Hurricane Gustav.
White House press secretary Dana Perino said the campaign, the convention and the White House are taking things "day by day," but it is possible the president could appear in the Twin Cities.
{mosads}"I think we have to wait and see what the convention and the campaign say, and determine from there," Perino said.
Perino also said that while there was some effort to arrange a presidential address from the White House, that is no longer being planned.
"We were making some plans to see if the president could address the convention from the White House or another location — but we were planning for the White House — but then the convention and the campaign I think made the right decision in canceling tonight's events," Perino said.
