Rove: McCain campaign ‘carefully vetted’ Palin
ST. PAUL – Disputing published reports, former White House adviser Karl Rove said Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) campaign "carefully vetted" Sarah Palin.
{mosads}Rove said the McCain team was aware of Palin's pregnant daughter and her husband's DUI in 1986.
"They knew all of it," Rove said on Fox News.
Rove said attorney A.B. Culvahouse, who was tapped by McCain to lead his running mate search, visited Alaska earlier this year and conducted a "three- to four-hour interview" with the Alaska governor.
He added that Culvahouse is known for being low-key and thorough.
Asked if the research on Palin gave the McCain campaign pause, Rove responded, "They weren't bothered by it."
