House Dems, Senate GOP top August numbers
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) outraised its GOP counterpart in August, while Senate Republicans significantly closed their cash deficit.
{mosads}The DCCC raised $5.1 million to the National Republican Congressional Committee’s (NRCC) $3.4 million. The Democrats spent slightly more, as they set their independent expenditure program in motion, but still hold a massive advantage in cash on hand, $54 million to $14.4 million.
House Republicans have yet to begin spending substantial money on individual races, but saw their cash on hand increase by only about $150,000 since the end of July.
House Democrats spent $7.6 million in August.
In the Senate, though, Republicans are getting closer to even with Democrats in money left to spend on individual races.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) spent $13.7 million in August, much of it on ad buys in four key states – Colorado, Mississippi, North Carolina and Oregon. It raised $4.4 million for the month and had $33.7 million as of Sept. 1.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) outraised Democrats, with $5.2 million for the month. It also spent far less on individual races, burning just $3.8 million and banking $26.8 million – just $7 million less than Senate Democrats, who have led substantially throughout the cycle.
