Lungren to become top Republican on Admin panel

Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.) has been selected as the
ranking Republican on the House Administration committee, his predecessor said.

The committee’s outgoing top Republican, Rep. Vernon Ehlers
(Mich.), confirmed Friday that Lungren, the former attorney general of
California, had been selected for the position.

{mosads}As ranking member, Lungren will work alongside Chairman
Robert Brady (D-Pa.) on managing legislation and policy that governs the inner workings
of the House. He also works with Brady on the Capitol Security subcommittee, on
which he is the ranking Republican.

Ehlers’s office cited his membership on three other
committees and six subcommittees as the reason why the 74-year-old lawmaker was
relinquishing his position after 14 years on the committee.

House Minority Leader John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) office is
expected to make an official announcement on Monday.

Lungren’s office could not be reached for comment.
