Obama’s Super Bowl party guest list
Various lawmakers are headed to the White House for Super Bowl Sunday and the guest list represents the two teams ready to do battle.
President Obama, in his efforts to reach out to Congress, has invited members of Congress to join him in watching the most popular sporting event of the year.
{mosads}While there are a number of members on the list who won’t have a rooting interest in either the Arizona Cardinals or the Pittsburgh Steelers, the president did make sure both teams’ home states will be represented when he watches the game in the White House theater.
Sens. Bob Casey (D), Arlen Specter (R) and Reps. Charlie Dent (R), Mike Doyle (D) and Patrick Murphy (D) will represent Pennsylvania, and Arizona Reps. Trent Franks and Raul Grijalva will surely root for the Cardinals of Arizona.
Other attendees include Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), Artur Davis (D-Ala.), Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), Paul Hodes (D-N.H.), Eleanor Holmes-Norton (D-D.C.) and Fred Upton (R-Mich.).
Upton and Dent are becoming regulars at the White House after being invited there last week by chief of staff Rahm Emanuel in an effort to woo them into voting for Obama’s economic stimulus package.
Both men voted against the bill.
