GOP Rep. Renacci could run for Ohio governor
Ohio Rep. Jim Renacci may run for governor in 2018, Politico reports.
Renacci has begun calling Republican donors and expressing interest.
Politico notes that if he runs, he could face a crowded field of Republican candidates that could include Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted and Attorney General Mike DeWine.
{mosads}Current Gov. John Kasich, who ran for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, will not be eligible for another term.
An aide to Renacci told Politico that “given the rapidly growing encouragement from people across the state who believe it’s time for a fresh face with his type of business background, it’s become increasingly very likely that he will strongly consider a statewide run this cycle.”
