Trump marks anniversary of Challenger explosion

President Trump on Saturday marked the anniversary of the Challenger space shuttle explosion that killed seven astronauts shortly after launch on Jan. 28, 1986.

“Today, we remember the crew of the Space Shuttle Challenger, 31 years later,” he tweeted alongside a picture of the crew.

{mosads}The space shuttle exploded just 73 seconds into the flight, as many Americans watched the takeoff live on TV from Kennedy Space Center near Cape Canaveral, Fla.

Aboard the shuttle was a high school teacher Christa McAuliffe, who was selected by NASA to be the first teacher in space, as well as mission specialists Ellison Onizuka, Judith Resnik and Ronald E. McNair, payload specialist Gregory Jarvis, pilot Mike Smith and mission commander Francis Scobee.
