Gallup: Congressional approval at 24 percent

A new survey finds that Congress’s job approval rating slipped to 24 percent in March.

The Gallup poll released on Wednesday saw a 4-point decline in congressional job approval, from 28 percent in February to 24 percent this month.

Additionally, the poll found a strong disparity between Republicans and Democrats. According to the survey, 43 percent of Republicans approve of Congress as opposed to 12 percent of Democrats who said the same.

{mosads}Gallup notes, however, that the 24 percent approval rating is still higher than any month between June 2011 and January 2017.

Congress’s job approval averaged a dismal 17 percent in 2016, according to Gallup.

The highest mark of the last decade was registered on March 2009, with 39 percent of Americans expressing approval for Congress.

The Gallup poll surveyed a pool of 1,018 adults between March 1 and 5. The margin of error is 4 percentage points.
