Donald Trump Jr. mentions possible run for New York governor: report

President Trump’s eldest son is reportedly setting his sights on a future in politics, telling members of an elite gun club that he may consider running for governor of New York.

Donald Trump Jr. made the comment while speaking to members of the F6 Labs gun club in Hicksville, N.Y., the New York Post’s Page Six reported.

“Don Jr. said he is interested in running for office, such as governor of New York, but the position of mayor of New York would be less interesting to him,” one of the meeting’s attendees told Page Six.

Trump Jr. reportedly said returning to business became “boring” after joining his father on the presidential campaign trail.

{mosads}”The politics bug bit me,” he said, according to the report.

Trump Jr. did not specify when he would consider a run for the spot. Current Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), who is a vocal opponent of the president, is up for reelection in 2018.

He reportedly added that he is not considering a run for Senate or Congress.

A source told Page Six that Trump Jr., who has taken the reins at the family’s eponymous business empire along with Eric Trump, “has no intentions of running for political office at this time” and is “totally focused on running Trump Organization with his brother.”
