London mayor to extremists: ‘You do not commit these disgusting acts in my name’
London Mayor Sadiq Khan had a message for extremists on Monday, saying they do not commit terrorist acts in the name of Muslims.
“And as a proud and patriotic British Muslim, I say this: You do not commit these disgusting acts in my name,” Khan said at a vigil for the victims of Saturday’s attack.
{mosads}Khan’s comments come one day after the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) claimed responsibility and as British police conduct raids throughout the city, making dozens of arrests.
On Saturday night, terrorists drove a truck into a crowd on London Bridge and then exited the vehicle to stab and slash victims nearby at Borough Market. Seven people died and scores more were injured.
“I want to send a clear message to the sick and evil extremist who commit these hideous crimes. We will defeat you. You will not win,” Khan said at the vigil.
