Donald Trump Jr. defended his father’s response to the London attack that killed at least seven people and wounded dozens more.
“Every time he puts something out there, he gets criticized by the media, all day every day,” Donald Trump Jr. said during an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” in an interview that aired Tuesday.
“And then guess what? Two weeks later, he’s proven to be right,” he continued.
“It happened again, and we keep appeasing it and we keep saying OK it’s going to be great, we’re going to hold fast and we’re going to keep calm and carry on.”
Trump Jr. suggested a different approach, though, in the aftermath of the London attack.
“Maybe we have to keep calm and actually do something,” he said.
“And I think that’s what he’s trying to say, because he’s been proven right about it every time. This is a recurring theme … But maybe, rather than the mayor of London attacking, maybe he should do something about it.”
Trump Jr. said he thinks London Mayor Sadiq Khan should do something to fix the problem rather than “just sit there and pretend there isn’t one.”
When asked whether he believes the mayor of London is at fault for what happened in London, Trump Jr. said that isn’t what he said.
“I think it’s time for the people there to probably act and do something a lot more proactive than what’s going on and I do think that’s something people have to do,” he said. “We can’t just sit there and pretend this is not a problem.”
His comments come after President Trump, in the aftermath of the London attack, went after the mayor of London for his comments.
“At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is ‘no reason to be alarmed!'” President Trump tweeted on Sunday.
Trump appeared to be referencing Khan’s comments earlier in the day in which he said there was no reason to worry about the increased police presence in London.

The president later doubled down on his attacks on the mayor of London, tweeting: “Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his ‘no reason to be alarmed’ statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!”
Khan on Monday called on the British government to cancel a state visit from President Trump.
After the London attack, Trump also renewed his call for his travel ban, tweeting that the order is necessary to keep the country safe.
