Capitol police arrest 80 healthcare protesters
Capitol Police on Monday arrested 80 protesters of the Senate GOP’s healthcare bill scattered throughout the Capitol office buildings.
In a statement, authorities said officers arrested 21 individuals in the House office buildings and 59 in the Senate office buildings for crowding, obstructing or incommoding. After being warned to end their protests, the individuals who refused were detained and charged, police said.
{mosads}The demonstrators took to the Capitol to protest against the Republican plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare, CNN reported.
The protests come as lawmakers return from the Fourth of July recess. Senate Republicans before the holiday had postponed a vote on their healthcare overhaul.
An ObamaCare repeal-and-replace bill has already passed the House.
Late last month, Capitol Police arrested 40 individuals protesting the Senate GOP’s plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare.
