Lewandowski: Kelly ‘very sure’ he can dismiss White House staff

Corey Lewandowski said he thinks White House chief of staff John Kelly has been clear in his directions to staff at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

“It’s been widely reported that they put their country first, they put the president next and then they put their own ambition third,” Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager and informal White House adviser, said on Fox News.

“And if anybody doesn’t follow that rule, I think General Kelly has been very sure about the fact that he has the full authority of the president to dismiss any staff that isn’t willing to follow the president’s agenda.”

{mosads}Lewandowski said he thinks White House staff is excited, energized and focused on accomplishing Trump’s agenda in the wake of recent personnel shakeups.

“And this is a much-needed change,” he said.

Lewandowski also said he thinks the White House is going to crack down on leaks, which he called an issue of national security.

“These are classified conversations that are taking place between world leaders that are being subjected to public scrutiny and public information,” he said.

“This is very serious information.”

He expressed confidence that Kelly and Attorney General Jeff Sessions would “continue to find who these leaks are.”

“I hope they prosecute these people. I hope they put them in handcuffs and walk them out the door,” he said.

“And make a very clear determination to their colleagues that this will not be tolerated.”

Kelly recently replaced former chief of staff Reince Priebus.
