Crowdfunding page raises vacation money for meteorologist who worked through hurricane
More than 500 people have contributed to a crowdfunding page to raise vacation money for a meteorologist after his continued coverage of Harvey.
The GoFundMe page, titled “Let’s Buy Jeff Lindner a Vacation,” raised $17,045 as of Saturday morning from more than 500 people, KPRC reported.
The page says Lindner, a meteorologist with the Harris County Flood District in Houston, has proved to be an “invaluable resource” as Harvey brought rain and flooding to the region.
{mosads}Lindner has given the people affected by the storm a “calm, analytical, and composed presence during an incredibly fluid and complicated situation,” the page says.
“He looks like he’s hardly slept, or eaten in the last week. I think Jeff is gonna need a break,” the page says, before encouraging people to donate to the page so Lindner can take a vacation.
An update posted on the page said Lindner wants to donate the money raised to help those impacted by the storm.
“Jeff, being the selfless public servant he has proven himself to be this week, wants to turn this into a charitable campaign to help flood victims,” the page says. “I hereby designate this the Jeff Fund.”
Lindner also tweeted about the effort, saying he was “blown away about it.”
“I really can’t believe all this,” he tweeted. “I was just doing my job.”

The storm has devastated Houston and areas of Texas. The flooding in the region displaced thousands of people and the number of storm-related deaths continues to rise.
President Trump visited Texas last week and is expected to make another trip to the region on Saturday.
