Vicente Fox slams Trump on ‘cruel and heartless’ DACA decision

Former Mexican President Vicente Fox is speaking out strongly against President Trump for his decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

The Trump administration said earlier Tuesday it was ending the Obama-era program, which allows young people who came to the country illegally as children to live here free from fear of deportation.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions made the announcement, saying in a statement that the program “that was effectuated under the Obama administration is being rescinded.” The program will be rolled back over the next six months, giving Congress time to find a legislative solution.

In a video attached to his tweet, Fox said Trump has “failed America” with his decision on DACA.

“This measure is cruel and heartless.”

Fox said the future of any country “is the minorities which will be majorities in a few years.”

“You cannot stop the change, the progress, the future of that great nation,” he said.

“I hope your grandsons never be in this terrible situation.”

Trump on Tuesday tweeted that he looks forward to working with Democratic and Republican lawmakers to “address immigration reform.”

“Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do),” Trump tweeted Tuesday night. “If they can’t, I will revisit this issue!”
