Rubio: Irma taking ‘worst route’ possible
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is warning of the destruction that could be caused by Hurricane Irma, which is expected to move up Florida’s west coast.
“Hitting the west coast of Florida is the worst route this thing could have taken,” Rubio said Sunday on “Face The Nation,” according to CBS News.
The Florida Republican also said it doesn’t look very good for the Florida Keys, regardless of the preparations taken ahead of the storm, CBS News reported.
{mosads}”The problem we have is there’s nowhere to move, the whole state’s being impacted by this,” Rubio said.
Some residents who evacuated to areas that could now be hit worse, he said, are questioning whether they should return to their homes to ride out the storm.
Hurricane Irma, which was upgraded to a Category 4 storm, is expected to move up Florida’s west coast.
The storm’s northern eye wall early Sunday morning hit the Lower Keys and is bringing winds of 130 mph.
As of Sunday morning, more than 600,000 people in Florida did not have power and millions had been told to evacuate.
