Dozens arrested in Florida for looting
Dozens of people have been arrested in Florida for looting during Hurricane Irma.
As many as 28 people were arrested by the Miami-Dade County Police Department, NBC News reported.
Fort Lauderdale police officials, meanwhile, said nine people had been arrested for looting.
{mosads}”Going to prison over a pair of sneakers is a fairly bad life choice,” Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Rick Maglione said in a statement, according to NBC News.
“Stay home and look after your loved ones and be thankful they are all safe.”
The Miami Police Department also tweeted out a photo warning people against looting.

Irma, which was downgraded to a tropical storm on Monday, has brought strong winds and flooding to the state.
Millions of customers are without power in the wake of the storm as officials begin to assess destruction.
