The mayor of Naples, Fla., on Monday emphasized the destruction caused by Hurricane Irma as the storm continues to batter the region.
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Naples Mayor Bill Barnett said on NBC’s “Today.”
“Our crews are going out this morning at sunrise … we’re going to find a lot of damage.”
He added that nobody has any power as a result of the storm.
{mosads}”We need to get them up and running. There’s no food stores open, obviously, and we’re going to have a lot of work to do,” he said.
“There are neighborhoods that are flooded. I know that for a fact. And this was a bad one.”
Hurricane Irma tore through Florida on Sunday and continues to devastate the region.
Irma was downgraded Monday to a tropical storm after making landfall twice on Sunday, and officials are warning of the storm’s destruction.
The storm brought heavy winds and flooding to the region and has left millions of people without power.
President Trump announced on Sunday he would make a trip to South Florida in the near future.
