Ex-Clinton spokesman on new emails probe: GOP wishes other party won the election
A former spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign on Tuesday said that the GOP is “so desperate” for Democrats to be in power that it keeps acting like the opposition party.
The comments came after the chairmen of the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees announced a joint investigation into how the FBI handled last year’s investigation into Clinton’s private email server.
“Never before has a political party been so sad that it won the White House and so desperate for the other party to be President,” Jesse Ferguson tweeted, in response to news of the new investigation.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said in a joint statement Tuesday the decisions made by the Justice Department in 2016 have “led to a host of outstanding questions that must be answered.”

The two GOP lawmakers said they have questions about the FBI’s decision to declare openly the bureau’s investigation into Clinton’s handling of classified information, while quietly investigating Trump campaign associates.
They also want to find out why the FBI decided to formally notify Congress of the probe on two separate occasions and why the FBI — as opposed to the Justice Department — recommended that Clinton not be charged at the conclusion of the investigation.
“The Committees will review these decisions and others to better understand the reasoning behind how certain conclusions were drawn,” the statement from the two Republican leaders said.
“Congress has a constitutional duty to preserve the integrity of our justice system by ensuring transparency and accountability of actions taken,” the statement continues.
