Poll: Millennials want third political party

A majority of millennials in a new survey wants a third political party.

An NBC News/GenForward poll finds 71 percent of millennials think there should be a third major party because neither the Republican nor Democratic parties represent the American people well.

Just 26 percent of millennials said they think the major parties now do an adequate job of representing the American people.

{mosads}A slightly higher percentage of male millennials, 74 percent, than female millennials, 69 percent, think that a third party is needed.

Seventy-four percent of young Democrats think a third major party is needed, while 67 percent of young Republicans agree.

A majority of millennials, 63 percent, also disapproves of President Trump’s job performance.

Just 22 percent strongly or somewhat approve of the way Trump is handling his job.

Sixty-five percent of millennials also think the country is on the wrong track.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 26 to Nov. 10 among 1,876 adults ages 18 to 34. The margin of error is 3.92 percent.
