Omarosa friend: It bothered her that Trump endorsed Roy Moore

A friend of Omarosa Manigault Newman says the outgoing White House aide was “bothered” by the fact that President Trump endorsed Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore.

“As recently as last week she told me about her concerns about the president endorsing Roy Moore. It bothered her, being a woman,” Armstrong Williams, a businessman and a longtime friend, told The Washington Post.

Trump earlier this month backed Moore in the Alabama Senate special election, despite the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore.

Moore had repeatedly denied the allegations that he had inappropriate contact with women when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s.

Moore was defeated in Tuesday’s special election by Democrat Doug Jones.

Manigault Newman, who serves as director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison, is leaving her White House role amid disputed circumstances.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Wednesday her resignation is effective Jan. 20. But a report Wednesday said Manigault Newman may have been escorted out of the White House after being told of her firing by chief of staff John Kelly.

Manigault Newman was a contestant on the initial season of “The Apprentice” and is a longtime supporter of Trump.
