Trump Hotels staff ‘ran off’ Marriott execs from visiting property that severed ties with Trump: report
Employees of Trump Hotels last month “ran off” a group of Marriott employees viewing a Panama hotel that is seeking new management, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.
Eric Danziger, the CEO of Trump Hotels, phoned Marriott’s CEO regarding the incident, the report said.
“We have a great relationship with Marriott,” Alan Garten, general counsel for the Trump Organization, told the AP. “They were appreciative that we let them know that we have a valid contract.”
{mosads}The incident came amid an ongoing conflict over the management of the Panama hotel, as unit owners work to expel Trump Hotels from running the property.
Ithaca Capital Group, which last year purchased units in the hotel, and owners in November opted to dismiss the Trump Hotels staff managing the property.
Ithaca Capital Partners managing partner Orestes Fintiklis in a letter alleged that Trump Hotels “is refusing to maintain its last shreds of dignity and peacefully vacate our property,” according to the AP.
“Our investment has no future so long as the hotel is managed by an incompetent operator whose brand has been tarnished beyond repair,” the letter reportedly reads.
