‘Baby Trump’ balloon floats over Paris streets

An inflatable balloon depicting President Trump as a baby floated above the streets of Paris Sunday in protest of the president during his visit to France to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Hundreds marched through the city streets along with the balloon, CNN reports.

“I think Paris should be protesting not only Trump’s presence here, but also should be trying to send a message to President Macron for having invited him here, especially on the anniversary of the signing of the armistice,” a protester told CNN.

{mosads}The balloon first appeared in London during Trump’s visit there earlier this year.

Since then, copies of the balloon have made its way across the world.

Last month copies of the “Baby Trump” balloon appeared across the U.S. They were spotted in Michigan, California, Chicago and Washington, among other places.

As people gathered to protest him in Paris, Trump delivered remarks honoring the French and American soldiers who served in World War I.

“The American and French patriots of World War I embody the timeless virtues of our two republics. Honor and courage. Strength and valor. Love and loyalty, grace and glory,” Trump said at a ceremony at the Suresnes American Cemetery outside of Paris. 

“It is our duty to preserve the civilization they defended and to protect the peace they so nobly gave their lives to secure one century ago.”
