Coulter slams Trump as ‘lazy and incompetent,’ says he could face primary challenger
Conservative pundit Ann Coulter said Friday that President Trump is “lazy and incompetent” and warned that he might face a challenger for the Republican presidential nomination if he does not uphold his promise to build a border wall.
“We put this lunatic in the White House for one reason,” she said on Yahoo News’s Skullduggery podcast, claiming that she was simply reminding the president of his promise to deliver on securing border wall funding.
Asked who she thought should challenge Trump for the Republican nomination in 2020, Coulter suggested Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.).{mosads}
Brooks recently argued that Trump had the right to declare a national emergency to build a wall along the southern U.S. border, calling illegal crossings a “national emergency of major proportions.”
Coulter has heaped criticism on the president in recent weeks, urging Trump to build his long-desired border wall.
The conservative firebrand most recently dubbed Trump a “wimp” after he announced his intentions to sign a three-week spending bill effectively ending the 35-day partial government shutdown without securing border wall funding.
“Good news for George Herbert Walker Bush: As of today, he is no longer the biggest wimp ever to serve as President of the United States,” she tweeted shortly after Trump’s announcement.
Coulter has long been seen as a gauge for Trump of his support among his conservative base. Before the record-long shutdown began in December, Coulter said she would not vote for Trump again in 2020 unless he followed through on his border wall.
