Former President Barack Obama urged the public on Sunday to support Puerto Rico’s recovery in the wake of earthquakes that have devastated the island.
“Our fellow Americans in Puerto Rico can use our support after this week’s earthquakes,” Obama tweeted.
“They’ve shown their enduring spirit over the past couple years, and it’s up to us to pull together for one another once again. I hope you’ll support their recovery,” he added, with a link to an NBC New York report listing ways to help the territory.
Puerto Rico Gov. Wanda Vásquez declared a state of emergency and President Trump has approved federal emergency funding for the island.
Puerto Rico was hit with a 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Friday, just days after its largest quake in decades. A 6.4 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday left at least one dead and homes and crucial infrastructure destroyed.
