Trump calls outgoing NBC leader a ‘hack’

President Trump praised ABC News anchor David Muir for conducting a “fair” and “professional”  interview with him this week but slammed ousted NBC News president Andy Lack as “a hack” in remarks to reporters Thursday.

“You look at NBC. NBC to me is very dishonest news, and that’s why they fired Andy Lack, I guess,” Trump said following a meeting with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) at the White House.

“You have to ask them, but Andy Lack was a hack and they fired him and they did a big favor to the world and to this country,” he added.

Trump had nicer things to say about Muir, the ABC “World News Tonight” anchor.

“ABC, I thought they gave me a very fair interview the other night, very good professional,” the president said. “I’ve had very good relationships with him, as you know.”

NBC announced on Monday that Lack, 72, was stepping down. Lack had come under criticism for his handling of sexual harassment and gender discrimination issues at NBC News.

Trump has feuded with the media throughout his presidency, and NBC has been a top target.

Trump’s television program “The Apprentice” aired for years on the network.
