Louisville Breonna Taylor billboard erected by Oprah Magazine vandalized with red paint

A billboard demanding the arrest of the officers involved the killing of Breonna Taylor at her home in Louisville, Ky., has been vandalized, the Louisville Courier Journal reported Tuesday. 

The billboard vandalized with red paint in Louisville’s Irish Hill neighborhood is one of 26 erected earlier this month by O, The Oprah Magazine.

The billboards feature Taylor’s face with the words, “Demand that the police involved in killing Breonna Taylor be arrested and charged,” along with the web address for Until Freedom, a social justice organization. The billboards went up the same week the magazine released an issue featuring Taylor on the cover, its first cover not focused on founder Oprah Winfrey. 

Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was shot to death by police in her home on March 13.

Police allegedly entered her apartment unannounced, serving a so-called no-knock warrant. When Taylor’s boyfriend Kennet Walker opened fire on the police he said did not identify themselves, they fired back and killed Taylor. 

Taylor is among multiple Black Americans recently killed by police whose deaths have sparked nationwide protests and calls for action on police brutality and racial injustice.
