11 arrested after clashes at ‘Jews for Trump’ rally in New York

Eleven people were arrested Sunday after a skirmish broke out in New York between anti-Trump protesters and a group called “Jews for Trump.”

According to The New York Times, the incident occurred when a caravan of Trump supporters ran into anti-Trump protesters from Brooklyn at Times Square. Physical and verbal altercations were exchanged between the two groups before police officers broke them up.

According to the report, everyone arrested in the incident has been released except for one person who threw eggs at two police officers.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R), now President Trump’s personal attorney, was also reportedly involved in the incident when he encountered the anti-Trump protesters while driving down 5th Avenue.

In a video posted on Twitter, Giuliani can be seen in the passenger seat of a car with the windows down while protesters went up to the vehicle and shouted expletives.

“Look at all the animals here,” he said, referring to the protesters. “They can only say two words: ‘F-you. F-you.’ Must be a breakdown in education. Extremely inarticulate young people.”

In a later interview, Giuliani said the encounter happened after he had taped his radio show.

The New York Times noted that the New York Police Department (NYPD) does not expect this confrontation to be the last in the city as Election Day gets closer.

Police officials have stressed officers must remain neutral. However, on Saturday an NYPD officer drove through Brooklyn in a patrol car and proclaimed his support for Trump through a megaphone. That officer has since been suspended without pay.
