Michelle Obama congratulates Kim Ng on historic role as Marlins general manager
Former first lady Michelle Obama on Friday tweeted her congratulations to the new General Manager of the Miami Marlins Kim Ng, the first woman and first Asian American to hold the role in Major League Baseball history.
“So excited to see Kim Ng named the first woman and first Asian-American General Manager in the MLB. I grew up loving the Cubs, but I’ll be cheering you on!” Obama wrote.

The Marlins replied to Obama’s tweet with three muscle emojis.
Ng has more than 30 years of experience in the league and will become the highest-ranking woman in baseball operations.
“I entered Major League Baseball as an intern and, after decades of determination, it is the honor of my career to lead the Miami Marlins as their next general manager,” Ng said of her new role.
She is replacing the team’s former general manager Michael Hill.
