Trump to be interviewed by multiple book authors: report

Former President Trump is scheduled to sit down for a dozen interviews in the coming weeks with authors writing books about his administration, Politico reported

The list of authors reportedly includes multiple reporters who covered his time in office and reelection campaign, including The New York Times’s Jeremy Peters and Maggie Haberman, The Wall Street Journal’s Michael Bender, The Washington Post’s Philip Rucker and Carol Leonnig, ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jon Karl and more.

“Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” author Michael Wolff will also interview the former president, according to Politico, which cited four unidentified sources in its reporting.

Sources told the news outlet that some close to the former president have expressed concerns that Trump could be hampering his own ability to sell a book of his own about his administration if he were to write one by agreeing to so many interviews.

Two sources told Politico that senior adviser Jason Miller and Trump spokesperson Margo Martin are expected to monitor the interviews, which are expected to take place in the next six weeks.

The former president has previously sat for interviews with authors penning books about his administration and campaigns.

He sparked widespread criticism last year after journalist Bob Woodward released tapes of his interviews with Trump, including audio of him acknowledging that he purposefully downplayed the risks of the coronavirus pandemic. Trump agreed to sit for 18 interviews with the veteran journalist.

The Hill has reached out to Trump for comment.
