Sen. Kennedy raising money for his son
Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) has had his ups and downs this year. But his father is still squarely in his corner, at least when it comes to raising money for his reelection bid.
Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) is holding a clambake dinner and star-studded fundraiser for his son Oct. 7 at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis, Mass.
The special guests will be New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, who has a commanding lead in the Empire State’s gubernatorial race, and Martin Sheen, who is well known and liked by many Democrats for playing President Josiah Bartlett on NBC’s "West Wing."
The event’s invitation asks guests to contribute $1,000 per person.
Kennedy is running for his seventh House term. Earlier this year he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of prescription medication and received a year of probation.
