Sunday shows: Supreme Court nod

The rollout of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan will dominate the Sunday airwaves this weekend.

A bevy of influential Senators will hit the talk show circuit to start framing the debate surrounding Kagan’s nomination.

{mosads}ABC’s “This Week” scores the biggest interviews, landing both Sen.
Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) and Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the chairman and
ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, respectively.

Both
had the chance to speak with Kagan privately this week. Sessions has
previously been critical of Kagan’s attempt to bar military recruiters
from the campus of Harvard Law School when she served as dean. Will he
soften his tone at all?

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” David Gregory will talk to Minority Leader
Mitch McConnell and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a member of the
Judiciary Committee.

Look for McConnell’s comments to serve as a barometer of how his caucus is responding to the Kagan nomination.

Two more members of the Judiciary Committee, Sens. Dianne Feinstein
(D-Calif.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), will square off on “Face the Nation.”

CNN’s
“State of the Union” will depart from the Supreme Court talk and focus instead
on electoral politics. Candy Crowley will speak separately with Sen.
Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) and Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) about their heated
primary in Pennsylvania.

Finally, Fox News’s Chris Wallace will sit down with former First Lady Laura Bush to chat about her upcoming memoir.
