Tech group picks new president

The Information Technology Association of America has tapped Phillip Bond to become its new president and CEO.

Bond is a former undersecretary of commerce for the Bush administration and executive at Monster Worldwide. The group’s top slot had been filled by interim President Robert Laurence, who took over after Harris Miller resigned to mount what was an unsuccessful campaign in the Democratic primary in Virginia to face incumbent George Allen (R) in the fall.

Bond has also spent time on Capitol Hill, working as chief of staff to then-Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R-Wash.) from 1993 to 1998.
