Reid: This is not ‘get even time’

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says he will work with Republicans when he’s in the minority, vowing it will not be “get-even time.”

Reid said Democrats, who lost the Senate in the midterm elections, will not operate the way Republicans did as the minority party, accusing them of obstruction.

“We want to legislate. We’re not for stalling,” he told reporters Thursday.

{mosads}Reid, who will be minority leader in the next Congress, also brushed back at GOP criticism of his management of the Senate. Republicans say Reid blocked votes on crucial measures.

“Anyone thinking that I stopped votes from occurring is just simply not valid,” he said.

Reid also announced Thursday that Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) are joining his leadership team.

Asked what Warren would do, Reid responded, “I expect her to be Elizabeth Warren.”

He praised Klobuchar for working across party lines.
