Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) reportedly raised $2 million in the first quarter of 2017 as he prepares for a tough reelection battle next year.
According to a report by Politico, the senator’s strong fundraising effort in the first three months of the year gave the lawmaker a total of $3.2 million on hand as he entered the second quarter.
{mosads}According to the news source, 85 percent of Tester’s contributions came in increments of $100 or less.
Tester is one of five Democratic senators facing reelection in states that President Trump secured by double digits in 2016.
Trump performed especially well in Montana, winning the state by some 21 points last November.
It is currently not clear which Republican candidate will face Tester.
