GOP senator faces town hall anger over Supreme Court, healthcare

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) on Thursday faced off with angry constituents at a town hall, fielding questions about repealing ObamaCare and the Supreme Court.

“Senator, my question is: When are you going to choose your country over your party?” one attendee at the Mesa, Ariz., event asked.

Flake faced jeers for his defense of the GOP invoking the so-called nuclear option to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Flake said Gorsuch faced unprecedented obstructionism by Democrats.

“What happened to Merrick Garland’s vote?!” one attendee responded, referencing President Obama’s nominee last year that the Senate GOP refused to hold hearings or votes on.

{mosads}Other questions touched on healthcare and President Trump’s proposed wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

About 1,700 people attended the town hall, KTAR News reported.

Republicans across the country are facing angry town hall crowds as they head to their home districts over Congress’s two-week April recess.
