Conservative group to target Warren book tour: report
A conservative group is launching a fresh campaign against Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) during her book tour this week, according to a new report.
America Rising PAC will hammer Warren’s record as she promotes “This Fight is Our Fight: The Battle to Save America’s Middle Class,” Politico reported Monday.
Warren’s book is due out Tuesday, Politico said, and the progressive lawmaker has stops planned in Massachusetts and New York later this week.
{mosads}America Rising plans to “make Warren’s life difficult” during her 2018 reelection bid, according to a memo from the group, and will try “to damage her 2020 prospects” for the presidency.
“We view [her] book launch as the soft launch of her presidential campaign,” America Rising executive director Colin Reed said.
“She is the titular head of the Democratic Party, with enormous sway regardless of whether she runs for president. We’ll do the same to her as we did with Hillary Clinton in 2014.”
Politico said America Rising deployed a “war room” against Clinton following the release of her 2014 book “Hard Choices.”
America Rising collected opposition research against Clinton, tracked videos, used rapid response communications against her and collected video, public and Freedom of Information Act records on her.
Warren ruled out running for president last year and ultimately supported Clinton’s campaign in early July, when it became clear she would be the party’s nominee over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.)
