Conservative political action committee America Rising is laying out its first attack on Sen. Elizabeth Warren for “when she runs for president,” comparing her record to that of a fellow Massachusetts Democrat, former Sen. Ted Kennedy.
Warren has denied having plans to run for the White House, but is often mentioned as a possible 2020 challenger to President Trump.
America Rising on Tuesday released a video about what it “will be highlighting,” should Warren decide to launch a bid.
The video features figures such as Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who praises Kennedy for his record in the Senate.
{mosads}”He dedicated his life to the institution,” McCain says in one clip, lauding Kennedy for being “one of the most effective members of the United States Senate.”
Other news clips in the video praise Kennedy for his tenure, and stress that “over 300 Kennedy-sponsored bills … are now law.”
Warren is then presented in a much darker political light.
The PAC includes some of the more recent Warren news coverage, critical of the Democratic lawmaker for going on a book tour and considering a presidential bid in 2020.
America Rising spokesman Scott Sloofman on Tuesday told the Washington Examiner that Warren will be held back by her lack of Senate accomplishments if she decides to run for president.
“When she runs for president, Elizabeth Warren will be missing two key ingredients: a record of Senate accomplishments and a lasting legacy in her home state. Both will be glaring vulnerabilities that we will be highlighting,” he said.
