Sanders: Special counsel isn’t ‘witch hunt,’ it’s the ‘right thing to do’
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) pushed back Thursday against President Trump’s claim that the special counsel to probe his campaign’s ties to Russia represents the “single greatest witch hunt” in American political history.
“Mr. President, appointing a special counsel is not a witch hunt,” Sanders tweeted.

{mosads}Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller Wednesday to act as a special counsel investigating Russia’s involvement in the U.S. election.
After the announcement, Trump issued a measured statement saying that the federal investigation would find no collusion between his campaign and “any foreign entity.”
But on Thursday, the president changed his tone.
“This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!” Trump tweeted.
