Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Trump, praised on Monday Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) for her “refreshing” decision to call for a separate investigation into former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
“And I think what Sen. Diane Feinstein did as a Democrat is refreshing because the Democrats — now they basically say the word ‘Russia’ more than they say the word ‘America,’ ” Conway said on “Fox and Friends.”
{mosads}Feinstein said Sunday that Congress should investigate whether Lynch pressured former FBI Director James Comey to cover for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign while Clinton was under investigation for her use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state.
“I think we need to know more about that,” Feinstein said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “And there’s only way to know about it, and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that.”
Comey said he felt “queasy” after Lynch asked him to characterize his probe into Clinton’s emails as a “matter,” rather than an investigation, during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday. He said her request would match the wording of Clinton’s campaign.
Feinstein, a member of the Senate Intelligence panel, said that she would’ve also felt queasy and added that the investigation into Lynch needs to be separate from the ongoing probe into Russian interference in the election.
Conway repeated Trump’s wording that Democrats are being “obstructionists” and slammed them for being overly focused on the ongoing probes into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.
“They are obsessive about this, they are obstructionist, and they are going to have to go home and face their constituents at some point when they say, ‘What was your message?’ ” Conway added.
