Grassley welcomes Trump’s rescheduled Iowa rally
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a tweet Saturday welcoming President Trump’s rescheduled rally set to take place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, next week.
The GOP senator indicated that he couldn’t attend the speech himself Wednesday because he has “not missed [a] vote since 93” but said he recorded phone calls, apparently encouraging constituents to attend.

The rally, which will Trump’s fifth as president, was originally scheduled for June 1 but was postponed by his campaign.
The event comes as Trump looks to rally his base amid historically low approval ratings and ongoing probes into possible ties between his presidential campaign and Russia.
Trump said Friday on Twitter that he was under investigation for firing FBI Director James Comey last month amid reports that the special counsel investigating Russia’s election interference had expanded its probe to include possible obstruction of justice.
Some Republicans were surprised by Grassley’s decision this week to launch a Senate Judiciary Committee investigation into Comey’s firing.
Several of the GOP chairman’s colleagues said they were uncomfortable with the addition of another probe that could potentially target the Trump administration.
