Feinstein clarifies: ‘I’m under no illusion’ Trump will change
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Wednesday she is “under no illusion” that President Trump can change, a day after saying that he could become a good president.
“The duty of the American president is to bring people together, not cater to one segment of a political base; to solve problems, not campaign constantly,” Feinstein said in a statement. “While I’m under no illusion that it’s likely to happen and will continue to oppose his policies, I want President Trump to change for the good of the country.”

Her comments come after she told a San Francisco crowd on Tuesday that the president “could be a good president” if he could “learn and change.”
“The question is whether he can learn and change,” Feinstein said, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
“If so, I believe he can be a good president,” she added.
The crowd was reportedly “shocked” after her comments.
Feinstein has been one of Trump’s most vocal critics in the Senate. She recently slammed Trump for pardoning former Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Sheriff Arpaio should not have been pardoned. A pardon for his conduct demonstrates flagrant disregard for the rule of law in this country.
